Why Coffee Mugs Become So Meaningful

From an artist who designs them: the objects we use every day often carry the most meaning.

Everyday objects can carry more meaning than we expect. Mugs show up in our mornings, our pauses, our conversations, and the routines that shape our days.

You know the weight of your favorite mug and the way it feels in your hand. You reach for it because it belongs in your rhythm.

Using the same mug every morning can remind you of home, a particular season, or a slower pace you want to hold onto.

For me, designing a mug is not only about how it looks. It is about how it will live in someone’s home and gain meaning through repetition and presence.

A mug can become a small grounding object that stays with us, offering a kind of quiet companionship day after day.
