A houseguest hoping for a quick cup of coffee inadvertently initiated a detailed account of her hosts’ early married life by selecting a mug from the back of the cabinet.
“Oh, that one has a story,” her host said, sitting down.
The explanation began with a job offer, continued through two apartments, and briefly required the guest to understand the geography of northwestern Ontario.
Several photographs were retrieved to clarify a bridge.
The guest attempted to express appreciation for the mug but accidentally asked whether the illustrated coffee shop was still there.
A second family member was summoned.
The coffee has not yet been poured.
