The Tinley Park Mug grew out of my Plainfield collaboration with Kacie at Krema Coffee. After the hometown mug was completed, she invited me to create designs for Krema’s other locations, including Tinley Park.
The community is a destination for concerts and live music for so many people across Chicagoland. That musical identity made the Tinley Park design especially fun to develop and gave the artwork a celebratory energy.
The story behind the mug
Ashley and Krema began shaping a new mug around the character of the Tinley Park community.
Krema’s place inside the Oak Park Avenue station connected the project to one of Tinley Park’s most recognizable buildings.
Ashley drew the trains, architecture, parks, music, and everyday traditions residents recognize.
The finished wraparound mug arrived at Krema just in time for the holiday season.
The Tinley Park artwork later appeared on a travel tumbler, carrying the hometown story into another everyday form.
Inside the illustration
Each element celebrates a recognizable part of the community’s history, gathering places, and everyday life.
The stone Metra station and clock tower connect the mug to Krema’s distinctive Tinley Park home.
Local storefronts and Oak Park Avenue capture the walkable heart of the village.
The historic Vogt building represents Tinley Park’s art, architecture, and community programming.
The downtown plaza and gateway arch welcome residents to concerts, markets, and village events.
Trails, sports, playgrounds, and open space celebrate everyday recreation in Tinley Park.
A musical note honors the concerts and performances that are a recognizable part of the community.

The creative process
The shape of Oak Park Avenue Station helped establish the look of this mug. From there, I layered in Historic Downtown Tinley, Vogt Visual Arts Center, and Zabrocki Plaza, using the contrasts between them to create a wraparound drawing that could only belong to Tinley Park.
