The collaboration

A local story, drawn one detail at a time.

The Lemont Mug began with local research and a collaboration with Mabel’s Market. Ashley translated the community’s recognizable places and shared references into an original drawing designed for everyday use.

The Lemont Mug has continued through Mabel’s Market, with a further 72-mug run authorized after the earlier inventory was nearly gone.

Each element began as an individual hand drawing. Ashley refined the artwork and arranged the pieces into a continuous design made to wrap around a ceramic mug, creating a keepsake that feels specific to Lemont.

The story behind the mug

How Lemont became a story you can hold.

  1. Mabel’s Market shares the community story

Ashley partnered with Mabel’s Market to create a mug rooted in Lemont.

  2. The character of the place comes into focus

Research and community input highlighted canal history, limestone heritage, outdoor adventure, and the historic downtown.

  3. Lemont takes shape

Ashley translated each selected place and symbol into an individual hand-drawn illustration.

  4. One community story from every side

The drawings were refined and arranged into a continuous design that rewards a closer look.

  5. Available through Mabel’s Market

The finished mug became a locally available keepsake through Mabel’s Market.

The creative process

Letting Illinois and Michigan Canal carry the story.

Illinois and Michigan Canal became the visual thread for this mug. I drew Lemont Quarries, Historic Downtown Lemont, and The Forge around it so the finished wrap moves through Lemont the way a familiar view or favorite drive does.

A meaningful local gift

A thoughtful Lemont gift for homecomings and new beginnings.

The mug makes a meaningful Lemont, Illinois housewarming gift, new-home welcome, or moving-away keepsake. Its hand-drawn local details give residents and former residents something familiar to recognize with every cup.
