The collaboration
Winfield is a town I spend time in nearly every day, and I am deeply thankful for the community. My two oldest children were born there, and our family is especially grateful for the excellent hospital that cared for us.
Our collaboration with Sweet Reserve first began in Lombard. When the team opened its Winfield location, they asked whether I would create a mug for the community, and I was excited to say yes.
In the middle of the busy western suburbs, Winfield stands out for its abundance of trees and green space. I also love its antique shops and Kline Creek Farm, whose historic setting adds another wonderful dimension to the area.
The story behind the mug
Ashley partnered with Sweet Reserve to create a mug rooted in Winfield.
Research and community input highlighted the DuPage River, forest preserves, railway history, and village gathering places.
Ashley translated each selected place and symbol into an individual hand-drawn illustration.
The drawings were refined and arranged into a continuous design that rewards a closer look.
The finished mug became a locally available keepsake through Sweet Reserve.

The creative process
West Branch DuPage River became the visual thread for this mug. I drew Winfield Mounds Forest Preserve, Winfield Metra Station, and Town Center around it so the finished wrap moves through Winfield the way a familiar view or favorite drive does.
