The Glen Ellyn Mug followed the La Grange Mug after Blackberry Market began carrying that design so successfully. Collaborating with Blackberry Market again felt natural because Glen Ellyn is filled with beautiful places and strong community pride.
Lake Ellyn is one of my favorite elements, along with the Christmas tree lighting that uses a fire-truck ladder. It was a unique artistic challenge to represent something glowing in the darkness on a white mug. The downtown atmosphere and the affection residents have for their community also guided the design.
Our family has many connections here. My husband and I have friends in Glen Ellyn, and our children do too. I get my hair done in town, and after church on Sundays we often go to Blackberry Market for lunch. Our kids especially love the cinnamon rolls. I am so thankful for the community’s enthusiastic reception of the mug.
The story behind the mug
Ashley partnered with Blackberry Market to create a mug rooted in Glen Ellyn.
Research and community input highlighted Lake Ellyn, schools, trails, and the village’s historic downtown.
Ashley translated each selected place and symbol into an individual hand-drawn illustration.
The drawings were refined and arranged into a continuous design that rewards a closer look.
The finished mug became a locally available keepsake through Blackberry Market.

The creative process
Lake Ellyn Boathouse became the visual thread for this mug. I drew Downtown Glen Ellyn, Glenbard West, and Illinois Prairie Path around it so the finished wrap moves through Glen Ellyn the way a familiar view or favorite drive does.
