Community
Sioux Lookout is a welcoming northern hub shaped by rail, air, water, and the many communities it connects. Pelican Lake, floatplanes, the historic station, Sioux Mountain, and the Blueberry Festival reflect a place with deep local pride and a generous spirit.
The collaboration
The Sioux Lookout Mug was the very first mug I created for sale. I had lived in Sioux Lookout before, and while I was there waiting for our fourth daughter to be born, I began drawing a mug for a place full of friends and familiar memories. She arrived three weeks overdue, so I spent a couple of those anxious weeks putting the design together. It was a fun and welcome project during all that waiting.
When the mug was released at The Hub Collective Cafe, the first batch sold out in about 24 hours. I could hardly believe how quickly the community embraced it. What began as something I enjoyed making for friends became the start of a much bigger collection.
I am especially thankful for Galen and Edith, the owners of The Hub. Working with them has been a delight, and it has been wonderful to see the Sioux Lookout Mug continue to find a home there.
