Community
Lombard is a village known for beautiful blooms, neighborly traditions, and a downtown that feels comfortably familiar. Lilacia Park, the Maple Street Chapel, Prairie Path, historical museum, and Lilac Parade give residents a colorful sense of home that visitors can enjoy too.
The collaboration
Our family lived in Lombard for a season while transitioning back to Illinois from Canada. One of my favorite places there is Lilacia Park. We visited as a family, and its beauty made it a natural starting point when I began drawing a Lombard Mug.
While we lived in town, we discovered Sweet Reserve and loved the quality of what they were creating. I connected with its founders, Sumaiya Vahora and Humera Rauf, and enjoyed hearing how their hard work and determination had grown a woman-owned bakery. Their story and the care they put into the business made this a particularly meaningful collaboration.
The Lombard Mug became the beginning of a larger partnership. I went on to create mugs for Sweet Reserve’s locations in Schaumburg, Skokie, and Winfield as well, with each design celebrating its own community.

Lilacia Park is the floral heart of Lombard’s spring Lilac Time celebration, when blooming lilacs draw visitors into the gardens.
Maple Street Chapel is a nationally registered Lombard landmark and a historic setting connected with the village’s early women voters.
Lombard’s historical museum preserves local stories through the Victorian Cottage, restored rooms, artifacts, and changing exhibits.
The Illinois Prairie Path passes through Lombard as part of a regional trail network maintained by local communities and volunteers.
Historic downtown Lombard places the commuter depot within walking distance of Lilacia Park, the historical museum, and Maple Street Chapel.
The Lombard Lilac Parade carries the village’s May celebration along Main Street with community groups and colorful parade entries.
