The collaboration
The Westmont Mug began with local research and a collaboration with J’s Coffee. Ashley translated the community’s recognizable places and shared references into an original drawing designed for everyday use.
The Westmont Mug launched as an exclusive collaboration with J’s Coffee. The first local run included 72 mugs, artist inserts, and a holiday-season promotion plan.
Each element began as an individual hand drawing. Ashley refined the artwork and arranged the pieces into a continuous design made to wrap around a ceramic mug, creating a keepsake that feels specific to Westmont.
The story behind the mug
Ashley partnered with J’s Coffee to create a mug rooted in Westmont.
Research and community input highlighted parks, rail history, downtown festivals, and the village’s musical connection.
Ashley translated each selected place and symbol into an individual hand-drawn illustration.
The drawings were refined and arranged into a continuous design that rewards a closer look.
The finished mug became a locally available keepsake through J’s Coffee.

The creative process
I used Ty Warner Park to establish the setting, then added Westmont Metra Station, Downtown Westmont, and Taste of Westmont as the drawing moved around the mug. Balancing scenery with familiar local places helped the finished piece feel rooted in the way Westmont is actually experienced.
