Houston’s East End is rich with color, culture, food, and neighborhood pride. From the murals and Navigation Esplanade to the skyline, stadium, and METRORail, it is a creative community with deep roots and a vibrant sense of place worth exploring.
The collaboration
The East End Houston Mug began through a connection formed around the Galveston Mug. After Martha saw my work at Seawall Coffee and asked Paula about the artist, Paula introduced us. That connection led to a wonderful collaboration with Martha and Miguel at Segundo Coffee Lab.
They shared so much of the East End’s rich history, deep roots, and community character with me. Their knowledge shaped the details and helped make the finished design feel grounded in the neighborhood it celebrates.
For this mug, I stepped outside my usual palette and used Segundo’s vibrant colors. The brighter scheme felt true to the culture and energy we were trying to capture. I am thankful for the collaboration and proud that the mug has a home at Segundo Coffee Lab.
