The Arlington Heights Mug began with local research and a collaboration with CoCo & Blu. Ashley translated the community’s recognizable places and shared references into an original drawing designed for everyday use.
The Arlington Heights Mug continues through CoCo & Blu, which committed to a substantial new inventory order for the Arlington Heights and Mount Prospect collections in 2026.
Each element began as an individual hand drawing. Ashley refined the artwork and arranged the pieces into a continuous design made to wrap around a ceramic mug, creating a keepsake that feels specific to Arlington Heights.
The story behind the mug
Ashley partnered with CoCo & Blu to create a mug rooted in Arlington Heights.
Research and community input highlighted downtown gathering places, arts, local history, and neighbourhood traditions.
Ashley translated each selected place and symbol into an individual hand-drawn illustration.
The drawings were refined and arranged into a continuous design that rewards a closer look.
The finished mug became a locally available keepsake through CoCo & Blu.

The creative process
I built this design around Metropolis Performing Arts Centre, Arlington Alfresco, Arlington Heights Memorial Library, and Arlington Heights Historical Museum. Each was drawn on its own, then adjusted and arranged until the finished wrap felt less like a collection of icons and more like a walk through Arlington Heights.
