Roscoe Village feels like a true neighborhood, with tree-lined streets, independent shops, classic Chicago homes, and gathering places close at hand. Roscoe Street, Fellger Park, Audubon School, and the Brown Line help create the lived-in warmth residents love and visitors quickly notice.

The Roscoe Village Mug was created in collaboration with the Bakehouse team. It has been great working with this group of entrepreneurs and watching what they are building across their locations.
Roscoe Village has so much character. Two of my favorite details are the Roscoe Village sign on the bridge and the summer concerts along the river, represented by the band playing on the pillar. That little musical scene is such a fun part of the finished design.
The story behind the mug
Ashley partnered with Bakehouse Chicago to create a mug rooted in Roscoe Village.
Research and community input highlighted neighbourhood shops, parks, transit, schools, and classic Chicago architecture.
Ashley translated each selected place and symbol into an individual hand-drawn illustration.
The drawings were refined and arranged into a continuous design that rewards a closer look.
The finished mug became a locally available keepsake through Bakehouse Chicago.

The creative process
Roscoe Street and Roscoe Village Shops gave this design its first direction, while Fellger Park and Addison Brown Line Station added another side of the community’s character. I refined the spacing by hand so every turn of the mug reveals something familiar.

The mug makes a meaningful Roscoe Village, Illinois housewarming gift, new-home welcome, or moving-away keepsake. Its hand-drawn local details give residents and former residents something familiar to recognize with every cup.
