Community

Lakeview, Illinois

Lakeview is a Chicago neighborhood full of energy, lakefront beauty, and the familiar character of city blocks lived in and loved. Wrigley Field, Belmont Harbor, the Music Box Theatre, local architecture, and neighborhood businesses make it a place residents claim with pride and visitors return to often.

The collaboration

A local story, drawn one detail at a time.

This mug is part of Ashley’s Chicago neighborhood collection with Bakehouse Chicago. Each design focuses on the architecture, gathering places, and small details that help residents recognize their own corner of the city.

The Lakeview design is one part of Ashley’s Bakehouse Chicago neighborhood collection, which has moved hundreds of mugs across the Lakeview, Southport, and Roscoe Village shops.

Each element began as an individual hand drawing. Ashley refined the artwork and arranged the pieces into a continuous design made to wrap around a ceramic mug, creating a keepsake that feels specific to Lakeview.

The creative process

Finding the rhythm of Lakeview, one drawing at a time.

I drew Wrigley Field, Belmont Harbor, Music Box Theatre, and Lake Michigan as individual pieces before bringing them together. Their different shapes and stories gave me the rhythm for a wraparound composition that feels layered, personal, and specific to Lakeview.
