Community
Huntley is a growing village that still makes room for neighborly traditions and a true sense of community. The Town Square, historic depot, farmers market, Dairy Mart, and local school pride give residents familiar places to gather and memories worth sharing.
The collaboration
Huntley was a familiar neighboring community for my husband, who grew up in nearby Crystal Lake. Creating the mug gave us the chance to look more closely at Huntley’s rich history and the places that give the town its character.
It has been amazing to work with Savannah and her family at Lincoln House & Co. They are incredibly kind and have built such a beautiful business. I am deeply thankful for their collaboration and for the way the Huntley community has supported the mug.
I love driving along Huntley’s brick road, and drawing the town’s historic features was one of my favorite parts of the project.
The story behind the mug
Inside the illustration
Huntley Town Square’s gazebo was built in 1994 with materials and labor donated by local businesses.
Huntley’s historic train depot stood just south of the town square, at the end of Woodstock Street.
Huntley Dairy Mart opened in 1955, earning its place in the village’s local history.
Huntley’s outdoor farmers market fills the Town Square with local produce, baked goods, and handmade finds.
Huntley High School’s Red Raiders bring the community together for athletics at Red Raider Stadium.
Huntley’s Town Square memorial clock honors Florence Conley Schaffenegger, who left funds to help maintain the square.
