The collaboration
This design belongs to a growing Blackberry Market collaboration that gives each community its own hand-drawn portrait. The shared collection connects several shop locations while keeping the landmarks and local references specific to each town.
Each element began as an individual hand drawing. Ashley refined the artwork and arranged the pieces into a continuous design made to wrap around a ceramic mug, creating a keepsake that feels specific to North Little Rock.
The story behind the mug
Ashley partnered with Blackberry Market to create a mug rooted in North Little Rock.
Research and community input highlighted Argenta, the Arkansas River, naval history, cycling, baseball, and the skyline shared across the river.
Ashley translated each selected place and symbol into an individual hand-drawn illustration.
The drawings were refined and arranged into a continuous design that rewards a closer look.
The finished mug became a locally available keepsake through Blackberry Market.
Inside the illustration
Each element celebrates a recognizable part of the community’s history, landscape, gathering places, and everyday life.
Historic Main Street, galleries, restaurants, and performances form North Little Rock’s downtown core.
The stone and concrete mill in T. R. Pugh Memorial Park is one of the city’s most photographed landmarks.
The historic submarine anchors the Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum on the riverfront.
The former railroad bridge now carries pedestrians between both sides of the Arkansas River.
Cyclists and walkers follow the river through parks, bridges, and downtown views.
The Arkansas State Capitol is a familiar feature of the broader skyline viewed across the river.
The creative process
I built this design around Argenta Arts District, The Old Mill, USS Razorback, and Junction Bridge. Each was drawn on its own, then adjusted and arranged until the finished wrap felt less like a collection of icons and more like a walk through North Little Rock.
