Community
Genoa is a close-knit community set in the beautiful Kishwaukee River valley, where agricultural roots and small-town life remain part of its identity. The historic downtown, Russell Woods, local schools, and familiar gathering places create a hometown residents are proud to share.
The collaboration
The Genoa Mug was such a fun collaboration with Stephanie and Nick at Open Door Coffee. They are wonderful people, and we loved working together to create a mug celebrating their community.
Open Door is an absolutely beautiful location. I love what they have done with the house and how naturally it reflects Genoa’s welcoming, small-town feel. The community, its people, and its schools give the town a character that feels genuinely special.
The response at the original release was so encouraging, and the artwork later grew into tumblers as well. It has been wonderful to see the community continue to embrace both.

The Kishwaukee River winds through Russell Woods near Genoa, where its waters support fishing and native freshwater mussels.
Protected since 1942, Russell Woods offers wooded trails and nature education along the Kishwaukee River between Genoa and Kingston.
The Cogs name connects Genoa-Kingston’s schools, student celebrations, and shared community spirit.
OpenDoor is a family-owned Genoa coffee shop built around hospitality, conversation, and relationships with local neighbors.
