Community
Brookfield is a friendly village where neighborhood traditions meet one of Chicagoland’s most beloved destinations. Brookfield Zoo Chicago, Kiwanis Park, Salt Creek, and a walkable local scene make it easy for residents and visitors to turn an ordinary day into something worth remembering.
The collaboration
Brookfield is where I spent my early childhood, and my family has deep roots there. It is a community tied to some of my earliest memories, which made creating a hometown mug especially personal.
The design celebrates the places and details people associate with Brookfield, while the mug found its local home at Gosia’s Coffee. It has been meaningful to create something that residents can use every day and that brings a piece of Brookfield home with them.

Inside the illustration
Opened in 1934, Brookfield Zoo Chicago connects generations of visitors with wildlife through animal care, conservation, and education.
Galloping Ghost Arcade on Ogden Avenue brings classic and rare video games together in an extensive collection of playable arcade cabinets.
The preserved Grossdale Station houses Brookfield’s historical museum and recalls the village’s original name and railroad beginnings.
Salt Creek winds along Kiwanis Park in Brookfield, where community conservation events introduce families to the waterway’s fish and wildlife.
Kiwanis Park combines Salt Creek scenery with picnic spaces and a bandshell that hosts Brookfield’s summer concert series.
